your mandate and main responsibilities

The co-facilitator carries out a psycho-educational group intervention to support self-management.

  • Exemplary empathy and active listening skills;
  • Group management skills;
  • Strong ability to work as part of a team, with an excellent spirit of collaboration to ensure successful co-hosting;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Ability to manage crisis situations, e.g. suicidal crisis, high level of psychological distress.

will be considered an asset:

  • In-depth understanding of and adherence to the self-management support approach and recovery-oriented practices;
  • Experience with a mental health disorder;
  • Technological fluency.

qualifications

  • 1st or 2nd cycle university degree in a field related to the helping relationship (psychology, social work, psycho-education, or other appropriate university training) or accredited training in peer intervention offered by Université Laval and in collaboration with the Pairs aidants réseau programme of the Association québécoise pour la réadaptation psychosocial;
  • Previous group facilitation experience would be an asset;
  • Acquired knowledge of mental disorders;
  • Excellent command of English and good knowledge of French (for workshops in English); 
  • Be available to attend a 7-hour virtual learning session (9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., February 21 and 22 , 2024).


working conditions

  • Part-time contract (4 hours per week), hourly rate of $26.50;
  • Possibility of contract renewal to run other workshops as part of the Relief co-facilitator team.

Responsabilities :

  • Familiarise yourself with the founding principles of the self-management support approach and the materials used in the intervention;
  • Prepare the programme with a co-facilitator;
  • Offer the planned intervention face-to-face or virtually, according to the programme and respecting its structure and philosophy, for 10 to 13 weekly meetings of 2.5 hours each, according to the established schedule, in the mornings (9.30am to 12pm), afternoons (1.30pm to 4pm) or evenings (6.30pm to 9pm);
  • Monitor the group's progress with the people in charge of Relief;
  • Take part in preparatory meetings as well as those at the end of the workshop to help evaluate the process.
