Job description

Relief's mission is to support people living with anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder, and their loved ones, to keep them moving forward. Our vision: In the course of our lives, it is normal to experience ups and downs. These irregularities shape who we are and make us all unique. But for people living with anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder and their loved ones, these more sinuous passages can sometimes turn into mountains. That's why Relief exists: to help them live with their path. Because having the tools to take control of one's mental health is already a step in the right direction.

mandate and responsibilities

Under the supervision of the clinical director, the counsellor offers support and information to people living with anxiety, depression or bipolar disorder, as well as to their loved ones.

summary of the position

The demand for our services continues to grow, and so does our intervention team! Relief workers are at the heart of what we do. We are very aware of this and ensure we take care of them. Individual consultations, telephone and written intervention, co-facilitation of self-management workshops, facilitation of support groups, participation in team meetings... There is no shortage of tasks! Whatever the service is offered, we take the time needed. We deal with people, not "clients," and even less with "numbers." We leave the statistics for our annual reports. In our daily work, it's the human element that counts.

"Being a Relief mental health worker is sometimes to be a lighthouse in a great storm or a caring look that confirms an aligned decision. It is to be available, as equals, to bring to light concrete, daily tools with kindness. It's about creating a safe space for different people living with anxiety, depression and bipolarity by mirroring their similarities, hopes and struggles."

- Christine Sauvé, Project Manager - Research and Clinical Activities at Relief
